Social Change starts work on European Commission migration portal

04 May 2007

Social Change Online CEO Sean Kidney and London manager Paul Smith today hosted a planning workshop in the European Union capital of Brussels. The workshop was for a major new project to develop new web portal on Migration and Integration for the European Commission.

Social Change is part of a consortium that will design the portal with the aim of providing a common platform for the collection and exchange of information on migration and integration (of migrant communities) for stakeholders in 27 nations across the European Union (EU).

The website will make existing information and good practices from all Member States accessible and will be developed in English, French and German.

The consortium partners are the IT company Unisys, Social Change Online (UK), Eurocities (a peak body for 150 big European cities) and the Migration Policy Group (a pan-European NGO specialising in the area). The project is being undertaken for the EU's Justice Directorate.

Social Change is part of the "stakeholder liaison, content and website strategy team" and will develop the vision, user requirements and social marketing plan for the website.

The project will take 18 months to complete. A beta web site will be launched mid-2008.
