Statement of Purpose

Social Change Online aims to enhance Civil Society by support ing and enabling government, unions, community organisations and corporations pursuing social objectives, to better achieve their aims.

We will do this by:

1. Helping our clients to realise the potential of the internet as a transforming medium, by:

• Advising on direction

• Stimulating ideas and a sense of options

2. Providing internet services and technologies that enhance the capability and capacity of civic organisations, through:

• Improving cost-effective web delivery of services

• Improving their interaction and communication with citizens and customers

• Allowing them to share content and call on distributed data to enhance their web services

• Providing online tools that support the formation of communities

3. helping develop enabling internet infrastructure that will further enhance the internet's capacity as a transforming medium. For example:

• Promoting, researching and developing open standards and interoperability

• Supporting and promoting emerging distributed data models and content sharing models

• Improving access and accessibility

• Developing the webmapping/geo-spatial capabilities of the web

4. Providing a (financially viable) business model that will be able to continue to serve the community with:

• Integrity of purpose

• Working with a moral base

• Sustainable profits that support the organisation's further development and role
