Understanding Your Web Statistics

How can you measure the success of your online web strategies? Website statistics can provide a vast wealth of information about the performance of your website. For example they can tell you:

  • How many times a particular page has been viewed?
  • What are your most popular pages?
  • Who is directing traffic to your site?
  • How effective your website is
Analysing your website's statistics gives you a good idea of how your website is performing and where you should be heading with it.

Users of the AIMS Content Management System have access to The Webalizer, a web server log file analysis program. The Webalizer produces highly detailed, easily configurable usage reports in HTML format, for viewing with a standard web browser.

The Webalizer produces highly detailed statistics which can be broken down by year, month, day and hour. Each monthly report contains statistics of overall usage, usage by day and hour, usage by visiting sites, URL's, user agents (browser), referrers, pages and visit totals, entry and exit pages totals, search string analysis, and much more.

Your web statistics are accessed through the AIMS Maintain environment. Once in the Webalizer, simply click on any month to see a comprehensive breakdown.
