Frustrated with their existing system

The NSW Teachers Federation had spent many frustrating years trying to manage their membership records effectively. They found their systems were restrictive and didn't allow them to do what they wanted with their membership. Instead, staff had to adopt inefficient work procedures to comply with inflexible systems. When the Teachers Federation decided it was time to update their membership system, they contacted us at Social Change Online and soon adopted a new Stratum system.

We listened and responded to their needs

The first thing we did was sit down with the Teachers Federation and ask how they would like Stratum to operate. Next we configured Stratum using its smart application interface (no hard coding that tends to create roadblocks to future development) to suit their exact needs. We then migrated all their membership data over to the Stratum system making sure it cleanly performed all of its required operations.

We also managed to integrate several stand-alone databases the Teachers Federation used into Stratum, saving them extra time and money.

We made sure everything worked for them

Formal and informal staff training was then held over two weeks. After this we went live with the system and had someone from our team permanently housed at the Teachers Federation to bed down any issues as they occurred.

Stratum now processes the Teachers Federation's fortnighly 40,000 member payroll deduction run in less than 9 minutes: with their previous system this same operation used to take more than 22 hours. The NSW Teachers Federation estimate they now save $30,000 and 8 person weeks per year with Stratum.
