CANRI is the world's first Internet site to use open technology to integrate maps from many stakeholder agencies and community groups.
An initial suite of CANRI sites is already online, including a Natural Resources Atlas and Data Directory as well as websites focused on wildlife, soils, rivers and State of Environment reporting.
At the core of the project is a philosophy of common classification, which enables all registered resources to be queried according to known terms.
CANRI was a finalist in the 2002 Stockholm Challenge.
